Well, That’s Just Stupid.

I bet you guys missed me.

I missed you!

Anyway, today I got really angry. With whom, you may ask? BARNES AND FREAKING NOBLE. I got angry with that book store giant.

For our anniversary, my MIL sent us a gift card to Barnes and Noble. Awesome, right? We went on the website (the closest one is about 45 minutes away from us), and we ordered a couple books.

We ordered:

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

And The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

We both have read, and absolutely loved, The Book Thief, but we misplaced our copy. We have both also read the first two books in the Divergent series, and were excited to finally read the latest installment.

Barnes and Noble is a jerk. We ordered the two books about two weeks ago, thinking that we would get The Book Thief in a few days and then Allegiant would come on the 22nd (today) because that’s when it was set to release.

We must have missed a box that said “send in as few packages as possible,” because we still have not even gotten the first book. Then, upon review, we found out that we won’t be getting the second book until 2-5 days AFTER the 22nd. I have been looking forward to reading this book on the day it came out for weeks now, and I am just so disappointed. I have never pre-ordered a book from B&N before, and I don’t think I will be doing it again any time soon. The point of pre-ordering a book is so that you get it on the day it comes out, instead of having to go to the store to purchase it. It’s supposed to be on my doorstep TODAY. Not 2-5 days from today.

Sad. News.

Anyway, I will be staying away from the WordPress reader in the next couple days so that I can hopefully avoid any Allegiant spoilers. I just hope that the book makes an earlier appearance.

Hello! I just thought I would check in. It turns out, more people read my blog than I gave myself credit for! We just got back from a visit with my in-laws, and my husband’s grandma made a comment about how I am trying not to eat bread… turns out my MIL read my “Getting In Shape” post and told her about it! It was a strange moment for me, but it was nice to know that someone is reading my blog! 🙂

In other news, movies are coming out for most of the books I have read in the past year or two, and it’s kind of cool. My friend Ashley and I (you may remember her from this post) went and saw Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters in our town’s quaint little theater last week, and I really enjoyed it. I have to admit, it’s been a little while (a few years) since I read the book, but the movie was entertaining. Ash and I had to have the talk with ourselves afterward, though. I don’t mean the birds-and-the-bees talk, I mean the movies-can’t-cover-every-tiny-detail-of-the-books-or-else-we’d-be-watching-for-days talk. I know there is probably a shorter name for that talk, but it’s still an important one to have. Movies would be days and days long if they contained every minute detail of the books, much to our chagrin. You can’t always get what you want, I suppose. Although, I think it is worth mentioning that the best book-to-movie I have ever seen is The Help. The book was written by Kathryn Stockett. It made a really, really good transition to the big screen and if you haven’t read the book or watched the movie, you owe it to yourself to do so!

Ash and I are also planning on going to see The Mortal Instruments sometime very soon (It came out today). I am looking forward to it, although I don’t know how I feel about some of the cast choices (I don’t think Jace should be so… androgynous). I also plan on reading Ender’s Game so that I will be prepared for the movie, which comes out 11.1.13. Have you guys read it? Is is good?

Other movies I am looking forward to:

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The Book Thief

The Fault in Our Stars

Divergent (I am especially pumped about this one)

If you haven’t read any of these books, go do it!

Also, I just thought I would tell you guys about an awesome birthday card we saw at Target the other day. The dialog went like this:

Girl 1: Where’s your birthday party at?

Girl 2: Don’t end your sentences in prepositions.

Girl 1: Where’s your birthday party at, bitch?

We laughed and laughed.

So, I have been thinking of starting a blog for quite some time. The hardest part? Thinking of a name. A friend of mine (also named Casey!) has been hounding me to start one, and I suppose I just finally got the gumption to do it! Right now she is in New Zealand, but I’m hoping that, as one of my main supporters, she will be delighted that I mentioned her on my very first blog post!

Anyway, this blog will primarily be about books since that is what I primarily focus on in my downtime! This past year I read 48 books, just shy of my Goodreads goal of 50. I blame my falling short on the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin (you might know them as the Game of Thrones series, although that is only the name of the first book). If you haven’t read them, they are amazing, just very long– but I highly recommend them!

At the moment, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Goliath by Scott Westerfield in the mail. My husband bought the first book, and I happened to pick it up and read it. I finished in about a day. I loved it so much that I got him the second one for Christmas, haha! Don’t you just love those presents that are also for you? I have read it, but he isn’t quite finished with it yet. So, here we are, waiting for the snail mail to bring the next installment. Hopefully before I leave for work at 3:30!

I know I’m 22, but I have a big fascination with YA books. They are typically a quick read for me, but I can’t stop reading them. I don’t think there is an age limit, per se, but I always feel obligated to read books meant for an older audience.  But I am going to keep reading YA books until the book police come and take them away.

I am also very excited for two books to come out: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (second in The Lunar Chronicles series), and the third book in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. Fortunately, Scarlet will be coming out in February. Unfortunately, I have to wait until fall of this year for the as-yet-unnamed third Divergent book. Humph. You should read Divergent and Insurgent and also Cinder so you can be just as antsy for the next books as I am!

The first book in The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

The first two books in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth

Anyway, thanks so much for taking a gander at my blog! I hope that you will come back and see what else I have to share with you!
